For the love of running.
Ashley: What I love most about running is it is both an individual and team sport. I ran cross country and track at Providence College and the University of Southern California. My events included the steeplechase, 5k and 10k. I’ve run fun runs like the Color Run, countless 5ks, 10ks, half marathons, trail races and three marathons. Running has instilled confidence in me and opened so many doors. The confidence came from great coaches, teammates and various racing experiences. The most important lesson is always believing in yourself. I want to spread that belief and confidence to others. Running has been a constant in my life and has shaped me into the person I am. (I’ve got the callouses to prove it!) It’s what I do every day. It’s my ‘me’ time. Race highlights: 5th place finish at Xterra Trail Run World Championships, 1st place Xterra Georgia Battle at Big Creek 10 mile, 1st place Smegs Legs 5 Mile Road Race, 1st place Kingdom Half Marathon and 9th place Rhode Island Marathon.
Personal bests include 10:06 in the 3000m, 17:27 in the 5000m and 11:17 in the 3000m steeplechase, 1:26 half marathon, 2:58 marathon
Katie: Stumbling upon my love of running came randomly in the 7th grade. The junior high in our town only had one varsity sport in the fall, cross country. As a soccer player who would always stay in motion, going out for the team seemed like the obvious choice. I found my talent early on and would need to run with the boys for a challenge. After competing nationally in the Junior Olympics that fall, I was hooked. I went on to run and captain cross country, indoor and outdoor track in high school where I received numerous All-State honors. Boston College was the next step in my running journey where I trained on the famed Boston Marathon course. Race highlights: 1st place Xterra Georgia Battle at Big Creek 5 mile, 1st place Xterra Little Mulberry Creek 10k, 7th place Spinx Marathon, 14th place Savannah Rock N Roll Half.
Personal Bests: 10:37 3000m, 18:40 5000m, 38:45 10000m, 1:27 half, 3:01 marathon
